Need help mixing styles in new home

I’m moving into a new home soon and it’s full of modern accents - think lots of yellow gold, modern light fixtures, electric fireplace, acrylic cabinet handles, etc.

I won’t be swapping out any fixtures for a couple of years. It’s fine for now, but I need help blending my classic, elegant style with this ultra modern look.

Attached is a photo of our current nursery, to paint a picture of the style I’d like throughout our new space.

Any tips welcomed!

Replying to my own post with an idea to hopefully inspire other ideas….

Upholstery! I’m thinking to add textures and patterns that would tone down the modernized space. I think using jewel tone velvets, plaid, tassels, and/or florals against dark wood could give it a more classic and maybe “dark academia” look.

Thoughts?!

hi!! i read your original post and thought ultra modern could definitely mix with your classic, elegant style. are you into art deco at all? thats what i originally thought about mixing the two. especially with the gold finishes and acrylic. think great gatsby, the 1920s. not sure if you’re into that?

otherwise i think textures on your furniture and decor could also make the ultra modern feel super elegant and classic.

as for the fireplace do you have the luxury of updating or creating a mantle and making it feel like an actual fireplace? this example is obvi wayyyyy over the top but definitely turns something modern into ultra lux. a couple of other ideas below too.

are you able to update the wall textures? i know some people think wainscoting is way overdone, but i do think elegant and luxury when i hear wainscoting. maybe even a combo of wainscoting and wallpaper. i wonder if that would make the gold fixtures and ultra modern feel on purpose as a mash up of styles. or that art deco style which i think is super fun and classy all at the same time.
