Hey there! We just moved into this cute rental that has nice bones. I can’t paint the space or put wallpaper due to the orange-peel texture, so it has to stay white. I’m not sure what my style is but I like warm wood tones and lighting, pops of color, eclectic but not too many things… I can post some inspo and the current state of the apartment. I need help picking out a rug, throw pillows, artwork, curtains/shades, lighting fixture? Did I mention I love those paper shade overhead lighting fixtures?
Here is our rental! We own this couch, tv stand & tv. Here are inspo pics of the vibe I want to go for!
THANK YOUUUU!!!

Hi Gabrielle!
It looks like you have a really good start! It’s definitely possible to add character without painting or wallpapering!
I would 1000% do a Noguchi style paper light in this room! Maybe one that’s a bit more shallow so you don’t have to worry about people bonking their heads? Like this style?
I think based on your inspo picks I would do a solid color rug and then add some patterns/visual interest in the curtains and pillows/art!
I’ve been eyeing this solid rug for a while! i feel like it adds some depth and also would do a nice job anchoring what you already have!
and then I think for the curtains like a subtle floral or maybe a pinstripe could be really good! these new curtains from west elm could be nice, or these striped ones from anthro!
also, just on a fun note, I have that same image from the bottom left corner saved as inspo for my own home!
Love this!! Definitely agree on the Noguchi light.
I could see you bringing in the pattern of the tile from the bottom left photo via a rug… something like this or this or this, but if you wanted to go safer i’d do a jute or hemp rug (just based on how often it appears in your inspo pics) and then bring the pattern in with pillows like Molly said!
I’d also swap out your curtains for something that brings the personality you want – if you go with a patterned rug, you could do something linen and oat-colored, if you go with a simple rug, you could bring the pattern in to the curtains. That makes a huge difference, rental or not!
I’d add plants – those show up a lot in your inspo and bring in the warmth you’re talking about. Probably on either side of the TV, so the TV is less of the focal point
Art: I’d love to see a big piece hanging between your two windows with some of the richer colors you seem to lean toward – dark red, green, blue. Maybe a framed photo, or an antique still life painting (you can get them at thrift shops) or something like this?
