Hi, everyone!
I’m helping my parents decide on a new flooring material for their outdoor pool area. The pool and back porch currently has a red concrete. They’re interested in replacing it with this rubber material that’s good for outside spaces. Here’s a picture of the sample we liked best:
I need some advice on the back porch area. We’re interested in redoing all the concrete surrounding the pool in the new material, but aren’t sure about the back porch.
I’m thinking of doing the back porch in a painted concrete, instead of doing everything in the same material to keep the different outdoor spaces separate. But there’s also the concern that this will look less cohesive. What do you all think about this? Any advice/opinions would be super helpful!
Here’s a photo of the back porch/pool area:
Thanks so much!
hi anna!
what a dreamy outdoor space
I love the idea of a painted concrete on the back porch to create some separation. You could definitely keep it feeling more cohesive by pulling a color from the rubber flooring and painting it to match and bridging those 2 spaces together using that specific tone!

I personally like to use color pal for this kind of thing as a starting point! If you start a color pal using an image and Spoak will pull out some of the colors and recommend paint colors based on those! Here’s an example I made from your sample image! Spoak

Hi, Molly!
Thanks for weighing in!
I love the idea of pulling a paint color from the rubber material, sounds like a great way to coordinate without making everything the same. Using the color pal tool could be super helpful to start looking at what we might want to choose for the porch area, too! Looking at the palette you created already is giving me ideas on what we could do, which is exciting.
